Neuropsychology

As a developmental neuropsychologist, I have training in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Developmental Psychology. I use knowledge of typical brain development to evaluate, diagnose, and help treat children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of conditions impacting development and learning. Common conditions seen in my practice include learning disabilities, such as Dyslexia, Developmental Language Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, genetic disorders impacting development, seizure disorders, and psychiatric and emotional difficulties.

Evaluations are sought for a variety of reasons. These include to diagnose learning or developmental disabilities, determine eligibility for special education services, monitor academic and developmental progress, assist in IEP development, obtain accommodations in the classroom and on high-stakes testing, and secure certain disability benefits.

The evaluations include a review of medical and educational records, clinical interview, observation of behavior, behavior rating scales, and a battery of standardized tests. These tests assess intellectual functioning, attention, learning and memory, language, visual-spatial skills, sensory and motor functioning, executive functions (working memory, organization, problem solving, inferential reasoning), academic abilities, emotional and behavioral functioning, adaptive functioning, and social skills.
